Sorry about that. Yes everything is in great shape. Pulled the old liners & wonder if it's the 'rubberized' material I've read about?   I want to thank you for all your help in getting up to speed. I did buy the books & did research and spent time comparing shapes, etc. They are a great resource  - Mike

Yeah Mike the liner is a repro, I was referring to the metal rings the tie tapes go through that were supposed to break if a artillery shell landed too close, and they would break so the concussion would  tear off the helmet with out taking off the soldiers head

Hi Bill, good to hear from you. OMG Bill that liner wasn't even close to being usable. I picked up an original (reproduction) it is a faithful reproduction of the original. I'll use that until I can find an original.

Updating this post as I am surprised that no one has responded to my inquiry on this. Just as a FYI, I placed this post here vs “Austria” because although the KuK was of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, he was originally from Kúklika, Dalmatia (near Zadar) & the naval base he was assigned was located in Pola(Pula), both of which are now in the boundaries of Croatia. All info sites I have found with regard to searching for an individual or a unit in the KuK military states to search in the country/state/province in which they lived or served. I’ve tried researching Croatian sites, but as I do not know the language, I don’t even know if any sites have an option to translate.

You should ask for better images and pictures of the backsides for a better assessment. With that said, the Bullion insignia looks to be for the German Air Sports Association DLV Gliders Badge. (Luftsportverband) (German Air Sports Association/DLV) Glider Proficiency Badges. These came in 3 classes, A,B,C. I believe Class A is one Gull, Class B 2 Gulls and Class C 3 Gulls..    From what I am seeing they look OK but I would want to see the backside to see what the backing is on these bullion pieces. The breast Eagle looks to have had all the material removed. With that said, it could also be the base material as carboard templates were used to make many of the insignia and this may be an incomplete Luftwaffe breast eagle.   The next item is a Luftwaffe Marksmanship Lanyard ((Luftwaffe Schützenschnur). It appears to be a Grade 1 Lanyard and looks to be very nice. Again, images of the back needed to assess better.   With an initial assessment I see no obvious red flags...   Leigh

The round patches are glider patches and the cord is a marksman cord

Hi everyone. Someone has offered to sell me a few items but I am unable to find any info in the “gull” patches and feel that they are not real. The same thing goes for the shoulder medal, it doesn’t seem to match what i have found online. Can someone help? Thank you in advance for the in-site. Have a wonderful day.

The Luftwaffe dagger has been ruined with that nonsense engraving. A Luftwaffe officer would have an excellent hand engraving. Go to a show near the end of it and find someone who is willing to make a deal or wait until I find one.

What's up Mike, the tie tapes are also bad, but what I can see the tie tape rings on both sides look O.K.. Can you please post photos of the manufacturers stamps on the rear skirt. Good luck trying to find an original liner.          Thanks,Bill

Here you go. Probably can see immediately that the liner is a poor reproduction. I have a quality repro on the way. I'll be looking for a correct wwii liner in the meantime.

Sure can. I'm working on another project now, but should be able to get some up tonight
