      What is a Frankentunic?
    • 2CanSam
I want to say the piping is a faded yellow from being in my room and getting dust on it so many years. It actually looks a little more yellow on the back side. I'll try to get better pictures of it.... Seems like this is the only thing of value so I  remove them..... And the tunic will now become the new dog bed...

I found a gilt British Navy button with a really nice Treble Gilt Extra Rich backmark but I can't date it. The crown design is different than any 20th century design. Can somebody ID the period for me? Pics below.

      Sadly, it's a Frankentunic.

My grandparents had a farm in W/Pa. They had one that sat behind a door in one of the rooms were weren’t supposed to go in. Naturally as young boys we snuck in there often to admire it and try and guess where it came from. It was unlike any rifle we had ever seen.

Looks like a British King's Guard uniform with different insignia from different countries if you ask me :))

Okay, disregard everything I asked before. I completely forgot that I asked on another forum about this years ago and I just went back and looked.... Apparently this is a hodgepodge or a costume of a bunch of different buttons sewn on to this tunic to be used in theater... I guess my focus now is on the shoulder boards which was said to be WW2 German.. are they real.. I'll change my title and get better pictures if needed of the shoulder boards... thanks

The best I could come up with is the jacket is.... made in England one of the buttons is for the Rocky mountain rangers, Canada.... The shoulder board looks German.... And the collar disc looks  us ROTC.... This thing's reading out like the manufacturers of my car...lol

Anybody recognize the maker of the buttons or what the inside tags would indicate... Trying to figure out if this has anything to do with military or if it's just a simple marching band uniform... It is marked England inside... Any ideas?

One of my friend's father had one, this being in early 1979, I recognized it straight away from my military books,  so my friend showed it to me, it was of course unloaded, his Father apparently used it for hunting. It was literally thee very first time I even touched a real weapon, I got to working the bolt on it and I jammed it somehow  like half way, to this day when I think about it I still don't know why it happened, my friend couldn't un jam it either LOL, we both got in trouble when his Father came home and had to tell him LOL LOL
