I was told that this is a Belgium collar insignia worn by Armor troops. Can somebody confirm and tell me when these were worn? Thanks

I think your insignia is actually French. Motorized Artillery (Tanks). In reference to the website, note that the helmet is sitting in the crotch of the crossed cannon barrles whereas the insignia in question, the helmet is centered on the crossed barrles. There was a US tank unit that wore this insignia on the left sleeve of their coats in WWI. French Tanks.

340th Tank Regiment, French Motorized Artillery. Yours is WWII though.
