Gents,

I picked up a very nice Mauser Model 1914 pistol from the grandson of the WWII veteran who brought it back last week. It is an Imperial German military issue, all matching, 7,65mm pistol made in early 1916 it seems. This Mauser came along with a first year of issue Hi-Standard Military .22 caliber semi-auto with a 4" heavy barrel that belonged to the US Army veteran.

The seller called me a couple of days ago and told me that he found the bring-back capture papers for the Mauser and I picked them up from him last night. Nice to have the original documentation that got the pistol back from the ETO to Kansas at the end of WWII.

" very nice" you say?...you are grossly understating your Mauser. I have seen only a few, never one in that condition. I would love to know what area it came from, does the paper work have additional info? ....a poker game win?

I have a Mauser 1914 as well, but no where near that mint. Yours looks like it was barely used and the acquirer actually took great care of it.

Yes, a nicely kept example of the Model 1914 by the veteran. The GI was a US Army ambulance driver (not a Medic). I have since come to find out that lots of stuff made it into the ambulance that did not make it out so a soldier in the right spot at the right time.

I had one of these years ago, it was in great condition also, mine was .25 Cal. as I shot a few rounds out of it. It was Ok, but I wouldnt have relyed on it...Nice as a collectors piece. I've heard it was a favorite among the returning Doughboys. I believe mine was a M1910. Smaller caliber, than yours. Nice pistol.
