Received this last week for the museum. Still working out the history on it as it is a vet bring back. The info provided was sketchy and we are waiting on another family member to be in contact... Still, a nice field used example. Scott

Maker is JHS and it is size 55 and dated 1942. Scott

Thanks Scott, this one shows just enough use and slight damage to have character. I too have seen many that were trashed, or on the opposite spectrum the felt un-issued variety. Scott

Very nice example.I have one that came out of a duffle bag.The guy who had them said he got two duffle bags full of the canvas helmets from the vet.The ones that were on the bottom suffered the most :(

Nice helmet. I have the canvas version and the pressed felt, both in nice condition. I have often wondered though, my canvas has light tan leather trimming whereas most like yours, have a darker Olive leather trim. Anyone have any thoughts?
