November 7, 20187 yr #1 This is a variation of a 1914 Iron Cross. It is a late war Godet wide frame First Class Iron Cross with a three piece screw back. The Iron Cross is vaulted and the backing plate is in the shape of the cross. The reverse features a round fitting marked D.R.C.M. with a handle that secures the backing plate and cross to the uniform. All pieces marked “800.”
November 7, 20187 yr #2 I believe your screw back round nut is marked "D.R.G.M." as a copyright/patent type of marking.

December 15, 20187 yr #7 Very nice EK I, Godet made some of the most excellent medals during the era. I had one like that many years ago. It is nice to see this cross posted.
