WZ-24 Bayonet

Hi everyone,

I'm pleased to share a recent local find. WZ-24 bayonet and frog, stamped Perkun, in nice shape with lots of dried oil on the blade. Tip of the scabbard indicates German use. The frog is interesting with a rivet on the reverse side. It's pretty dry, so removal for study isn't an option.

Hello Red Devil. Welcome to the WMF.

Thanks for showing your Polish Wz.24 bayonet. In this configuration it is really a German modification that was issued to German forces during the war. When the Germans overran Poland they seized stocks of Polish Wz.22, Wz.24 and Wz.28 bayonets and modified them to fit German Kar.98k rifles. They cut the muzzle rings off of those bayonets that had them, blued the bright finished bayonets, and either painted the thin steel green Polish scabbards black or replaced them with German S84/98 scabbards of hardier blued steel. This is what happened to your bayonet.

If you like, you can leave it here or I can move it to the WWII German Edged Weapons section for you.

Thank you for the information Sarge. I had just been reading up on the variations of Polish bayonets myself. Park the thread wherever you see fit.

OK... I have moved your thread to the WWII German Edged Weapons section. Thanks for sharing your recent find!
