A small but tidy group to a pilot in the RAF while stationed in India during the war. Jesse Martindale. He appears by looking at his Id book to have started as an enlisted man and moved up to Pilot Officer. His Id book, group photos and his Indian made RAF Pilot wing.

 

Indian made examples of the RAF wing have a very distinct look to them as opposed to the British issue wings. In my opinion much more appealing. This pair is heavily padded and has the poppers still attached to the reverse for easy removal when cleaning the uniform. The piece of blue RAF uniform material still has the position for the poppers and where the wings were attached.

Nice rare set. I have a really cool Army Major's uniform group for the 37th ID that served in India during the war.

Thanks for sharing, Irish. I like your use of the word 'tidy.' Appropriate for this group, though it is small it tells a great story.
