Hey there.

I traded for this with a friend at a militaria show last weekend. My friend said he found it in a pile of US insignia from Vietnam. Anyone have any idea what this was for? Dinh was/is a province in Vietnam I believe. Thanks for any help.

...the backing material is a much lighter shade of grey than my photos show.

I believe it is an ARVN Navy ship related tab but not 100% positive.

I don't believe this is a VNN vessel (Republic of Vietnam Navy)

This actually appeared in the old Vietnam Insignia Collector's Newsletter as item 71-72. It supposedly translates to Phan Doan Truc Loi Dinh (with dicretical accent marks that I cannot duplicate) as Sub Group Minesweeper Craft. The ID was made by Duong Tam Chi who did a lot of translation work for Clem Kelly.
