An on-line reference indicated that badges with the two bendable tangs are early World War 1 production. Also note that the wheel on the front is a separate piece from the body of the badge. No maker's mark found.

In 1977 I was very fortunate to work with the Royal NZ Infantry Regiment on the North Island for a month long combined US Army/NZ Army exercise. Great people and wonderful scenic country! I will share some of my bring backs from that trip. The Kiwi, a small flightless bird, is one of their National symbols.

This is a close up of the Royal NZ Infantry Regiment beret badge and collar dogs. They wear a green beret that is a different shade from our Special Forces. I will try to post a photo later.

Here are a couple of older shoulder titles and a fern badge. I believe it dates from the WWII time frame. I have a couple more I'll post below.

Here are two badges from the Northland (North Auckland) or 3rd RNZIR that was formed in 1911. During WWI they supplied Infantry Companies as part of the Auckland Regiment. During WWII it also supplied units for the war effort. The Northland Regt. was combined with the Auckland Regt. in 1964. The smaller badge is marked JR GAUNT. Notice the Kings crown is on the left badge and the Queen's crown is on the right or more recent badge.

Here we have an older 1st RNZIR cap badge (on the left) that was formed after WWII This unit served in Malaya in 1957. The other badge is the 2nd RNZIR and dates its origin to 1845 as the Nelson Marlborough West Coast Regt. This Regt supplied units during both World Wars. It was combined with the Canterbury Regt. in 1964. Both badges have the older King's Crown.

A couple more NZ badges: The left badge is an Army Pay Corps (Finance Branch) and has a King's crown. The other is a collar dog for Hauraki Regt. It became the 6th RNZIR in 1964 during reorganization.

New Zealand is one of my very favorite Nations on the planet. If you ever get a chance to visit, you will know what I mean.

Here is the NZ green beret I mentioned earlier. Their shade of green is lighter than ours, but it is difficult to see the difference here.

Here is a NZ Hauraki Regiment Cap badge. The collar dog (device) is shown above. The Hauraki Regt was formed in 1911 from the Auckland volunteers. They supplied companies during both WWI and WWII. They were redesignated the 6th Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (6th RNZIR) in 1964.

 

 

This is a full size RNZ Artillery Cap Badge in bronze metal with the more recent Queen's Crown. The legacy of the Royal NZ Artillery goes back to the Boer War and includes WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. UBIQUE means everywhere.
