Here is an Imperial German Artillery Officer sword with a P guard. This officer sword has crossed cannons on the obverse langet of the guard and an early jawless lion head pommel. The grip material is sharkskin (shagreen) indicating a higher priced sword. The scabbard is nickeled steel with two brass rings indicating this is an early sword made before WWI when it was worn with two slings from the belt instead of one single strap. The blade is nicely etched and has "Eisenhauer" incorporated into the etching indicating a high quality steel blade that will cut iron.

 

A nice example of a high quality private purchase sword for an Artillery Officer.
