January 22, 20197 yr #4 The badge is for the Middlesex Regiment and the name matches to an officer of the regiment - 8th Bn Midd'x, 2d Lt M C D King to be Lt 10th Dec 1933 and later promoted to Captain in 1937. I think 8th Bn would have been one of the territorial units of the period. I am sure there is more information on him in the Gazette, but there's a good starting point. January 22, 20197 yr #5 Montague Charles Duncan King Born: 30 June 1910 Died: 1961 - London Parents: Arthur John & Emily Rachel King Spouse: Dorothy Margaret Simpson (m. 1938) In the 1911 Census, he is 14 months old. His parents were both 38 and had been married for four years. Father was an accountant. they had two servants - Edith Cummins and Phoebe Buckingham. In the 1939 Register, he is still living with his parents and wife at 41 Manor Road, Staines U.D., Middlesex. Arthur is a bank manager. Montague is listed as Capt 8th Btn Mdt Reg, Active Service. In May 1956, He was a bank Clerk, and travelled to New York on the Cunard Steamship, Queen Mary. Left England on 3rd May, arrived in NY on 8th May When he died in 1961, he worth £48,000 8th Bn Middlesex Regiment Awarded the Military Cross while Capt/temp. Major in the Northwest Europe Theatre 1944-45 When he died (and for a while before) he lived at Briar Cottage, Boundstone, Farnham, Surrey. Here is a clip from a 1946 Supplement to the London Gazette, listing commanding officers giving his service number and saying he had his MC. 1936 newspaper saying he won a prize:
