Hi all,

 

Here is a P1831 Mameluke sword.

Made by Pillin and roughly dated 1902-1910.Sword retailer was Hill Brothers from Old Bond Str London

Around 1898 it was possible to use a leather scabbard instead the Brass/steel ones for field service.

 

Here is some service information but not complete as i,m still doing research

 

 

Colonel C. W. Carey served as Adjutant with the 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry in the Egyptian

war of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Medjidie, and
Khedive's Star). Served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in
1897-98 with the 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry, and took part in the operations of the Malakand and
Buner Field Forces, including the forcing of the Tanga Pass (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
Appointment of Lieutenant C.W. Carey, supernumerary on the establishment of the 3rd Punjab Cavalry to be Squadron Officer of the 36th Punjab Cavalry.1898

 

He retired in 1910 as a Major-General and from 1913-1932 he was the Governor of Military Knights of Windsor and acting Governor of Windsor Castle
