February 26, 20197 yr #1 I picked this up from an antique store in Bellflower in the Los Angeles area in the late 1980's. The story was that it was taken off a German destroyer that was part of the Grand Scuttle that took place in Scapa Flow in Scotland after WW1. At the armistice, the Germans were compelled to deliver their High Sea Fleet to Scapa Flow to be monitored pending the verdict at Versailles. The ships were still manned by German sailors and officers. When it looked like the fate of the ships was to be divided amongst the allies, the German admiral Ludwig von Reuter ordered the fleet to be scuttled. I wish I knew what ship this was from.
