Prussian 1870-71 Noncombatant Victory Medal Jewelers Copy
This little gem was an antique show find back in the 1990’s and has intrigued me ever since. The medal is either silver or silver plated bronze. It is not magnetic and the original owner has engraved the edge with a pin resulting in something that I can not read. The loop is not regular issue and the rays in the cross angles are weaker than on the government issues so there is no doubt that this is a jewelers copy. It is mounted on a ribbon bar which instead of using the proper ribbon uses two miniature combatants ribbons. Since I can’t remove it from it’s mounting a specific gravity test is out of the question. Anyone seen any similar medals?

If I remember right ? non combat medal on combat ribbon is someone who made it to france but was not in combat .

I believe only bronze medals had engraving on rim ? Steel ones did not ! IMO thats correct ribbon and a nice piece !

Thanks Trixie, the engraving on the rim looks like it was done with a pin and is not the impressed lettering found on official combatant medals.
