Chinese Pilot Wing Collection

Featured Replies

Thought I might post and show my modest Chinese pilot wing collection. Starting at the top:

1.) Post WWII wing, most likely from the 1950's.

2.) Chinese Pilot Wing, I acquired on the loose.

3.) Chinese wing that came in an Air Transport Command pilot's grouping.

4.) Rare US made Chinese pilot wing by AH Dondero. Dondero had a contract to make these wings for the Chinese cadets training in the US at Luke Field in AZ.

5.) Chinese clutch back wing that came on the uniform tunic of a CNAC pilot. Oddity is that the wing is constructed of the typical brass but the front has been silvered. You can just see the brass poking through on small worn spots on the wing tips. The reason for having it silvered is unknown.

6.) Small wing about 2/3rds the normal size. Possibly a "shirt" wing or made as a "mini" wing to be worn on the right side of a USAAF jacket much like the mini RAF wings worn by USAAF pilots that served with the RAF before US war entry. That's speculation though.

Thanks for looking.

Paul
