April 21, 20197 yr #8 Some nice pistols. I, alas, only have one Luger left. At one time had 17 but traded and sold for other interesting firearms, I had 3 P38, but only 1 now. The P38 is what my father carried.
April 22, 20197 yr #10 Here's the P38 and couple of my favorite. As to my previous post, I should have wrote My father carried a P38. The way I wrote it and after reading it, it may have sounded like I said I had the P38 he carried. Sorry if anyone besides myself may have read it that way.
April 22, 20197 yr #12 Nice pieces! My Uncle Frank let me hang onto his Luger for a while many many years ago. He captured it from a German soldier either during or just after the Bulge. I left it in care of my Dad when I moved out here to California. My brother ended up with it after both Dad and Frank passed away. I last saw it 20 years ago on a trip home. I'll need to dig up the photos it took and post them here. It was a beautiful gun. Lightly used but not abused. My buddy and I took it out once. He brought an Ayatolla Khomeini poster (See, I told you it was many years ago!). I got him right between the eyes on my first shot. It came with a holster, extra mag and takedown tool. Was there anything else issued with them? Mikie
April 23, 20197 yr #13 I also had a captured Luger with holster, extra mag, and take down tool, along with the confiscation papers. Bought all this for 60.00 in 1970 from a fellow worker who captured these along with Luftwaffe buckle and belt and insignias he took from a Luftwaffe soldier. Alas, years later I sold these along with my other Lugers to start a M1 carbine collection which now number 40 along with a reproduction paratrooper stock used in Band of Brothers HBO film. Now I wish I had the Lugers rather then the carbines. Too late now. LOL
April 7, 20233 yr #17 HELLO, THANK YOU SARGE. HERE WE HAVE A 1938 MAUSER s42 OF WITCH APX. 113800 WERE PRODUCED . OF THOSE 2400 WENT TO THE GERMAN NAVY.THERE WERE TWO AREAS TO THIS. FIRST WAS THE HIGH SEA FLEET AT WILHELMSHAFEN, THE MAIN PORT ON THE NORTH SEA. THE SECOND AREA WAS THE BALTIC SEA AT KIEL.(OST SEE) THIS AREA SERVED MORE AS A TRAINING GROUND. NORTH SEA LUGER'S HAD AN N STAMPED ON THE BASE OF THE MAGAZINE IF ORIGINAL, THE BALTIC SEA LUGER'S WERE NOT MARKED WITH AN O. ALSO, NORTH SEA LUGERS WERE MARKED ON THE REAR GRIP STRAP WHEREAS OST SEA LUGER'S HAD THE MARKING APPLIED TO THE FRONT GRIP STRAP. N over ### or O###. MAGAZINES ALSO HAD SERIAL NUMBERS MATCHED TO THE LUGER SERIAL NUMBER AND AN+ FOR THE SPARE. I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS BIT OF INFORMATION. QUESTIONS WELCOME. T BIRD
April 8, 20233 yr #18 HELLO; HERE WE HAVE A 1939 42 MAUSER LUGER. THE CHANGE FROM s42 TO 42 HAPPENED IN THE SPRING OF 1939. AROUND THIS TIME ALSO, BLACK PLASTIC GRIPS COULD BE ISSUED AS REPLACEMENTS IF WOOD GRIPS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. APX. 85500 42 CODED LUGER'S WERE PRODUCED OF WHICH SOME WENT TO THE LUFTWAFFE AND NAVY. THE OFF COLOR IN THE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY IS DUE TO HEAT AND CHEMICAL VARIANCES DURING THE BLUEING PROCESS. THE 42 ON THE MAGAZINE BOTTOM IS A MAUSER REPLACEMENT CODE.

Is the magazine on your second (Mauser) pistol a secondary replacement magazine like an unmarked one made for an armorer or did it come from the factory for the pistol without inspection or first/second/third magazine markings?

April 10, 20233 yr #21 GOOD DAY ALL; HERE NOW IS A 1940 42 MAUSER LUGER AS ACQUIRED DECADES AGO. WAS COMPLETE AS PICTURED. THOUGH THE MAGAZINES DO NOT MATCH THEY ARE ACCEPTANCE STAMP E/655 MARKED AND THE SPARE MAGAZIEN IS + MARKED, AS IS THE LOADING TOOL AND PISTOL. THE MARKING OF E/63 TO E/655 HAPPENED DURING 1939. THE HOLSTER IS ALSO DATED 1940 AND MADE BY KIMNACH u BRUNN IN KAISERSLAUTERN, WHICH IS ROUGHLY 150 MILES EAST OF NUREMBERG. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANOTHER LUGER NUMBERED SO, BUT THEY ARE OUT THERE. THIS ONE IS THE LAST YEAR OF PRODUCTION AS PRODUCTION ENDED IN NOVEMBER 1942 IN FAVOR OF THE P.38, THOUGH THERE WAS SOME PARTS ASSEMBLY UNTIL POSSIBLY 1944. THE LAST APX. 10,000 PRODUCTION byf42 LUGER PISTOL'S WENT TO BULGARIA AND PORTUGAL. AT THE START OF 1941 THE YEAR STAMP ON THE CHAMBER WENT FROM FOUR DIGITS TO TWO, AND THE P.08 WAS ADDED TO THE LEFT FRAME. THE E/655 INSPECTOR STAMP CHANGED TO E/135 THEN ALSO. THE MAUSER CODE OF 42 CHANGED TO byf AT APX. THE SAME TIME. 1942 ALSO SAW THE OMITTING OF THE BARREL GAUGE STAMP. ISSUANCE OF BLACK PLASTIC MAGAZINE BOTTOMS HAPPENED IN 1941, BY 1942 IT IS RARE TO FIND A NUMBERS MATCHING ALUMINUM BOTTOM MAGAZINE AS MOST WERE SUPPLIED WITH BLACK PLASTIC BOTTOMS. April 18, 20233 yr #23 Nice late P.08 pistol. I see you have the correct fxo magazine for it. These plastic bottom magazines are often chipped or broken since it was not the best idea to produce a magazine you are going to drop on the ground. Thanks for showing.
