April 30, 20197 yr #1 It is the highest honour of merit awarded by the President of the Republic of Haiti. It was instituted on May 28, 1926. It was given to acknowledge distinction in not only the realms of diplomacy and politics but also the arts, charitable works and other fields of benefit or interest to Haiti. According to Wikipedia, there are five grades. Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight. Below are photos of examples I have/had in my collection. Knight: Officers: From what I understand, approximately 50 of the 3 below grades were awarded to US Marines. There are some US Navy recipients, but it was probably even less. Chevalier(Knight)- Breast badge in silver, no rosette on ribbon. Officer - Breast badge in silver gilt, rosette on ribbon. Commander - Slightly larger neck badge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
