Bavarian Reserve officer pickelhaube

This is my 1st spike ! Pre 1897 helmet due to only having one cockade with early 1888 type front plate with silver reserve cross and early brass officer cockade and no national cocade.

So a guess ? This helmet dates between 1888 and 1896 .

and only two holes in helmet for plate so all original ! original silk liner with officer visors and removable spike.

That is one nice Bavarian Reserve Pickelhaube. I love the tall fluted spike and the angular shape of the front visor.

Is the reserve cross affixed with pins or is it part of the Wappen design?

Could we see a closeup of the Bavarian cockade?

Cross has pins I believe seems a separate piece ? I did not take shield off ! The cockade has bluish silver trim no blue I was wondering if it faded ? Not sure if its worn off or was never there ? Will post pics of it after work !

Great helmet! The officers cockcades are fantastic...looks blue with the flash....maybe paint loss on that portion?

Fantastisch!

I suspect it is paint loss. A neat old version of the cockade.
