Looking for a ball park figure on a WWII Japanese military saddle. Has saddle bags, stirrups and spurs (painted OD). Sorry no pictures, but the saddle is in excellent shape and was a bring back by a U.S. soldier. Seller has a picture of the soldier and saddle before it was brought home.

I would say, depending upon condition and how complete it is...in the $300-500 area. The market is very different in other areas but there isn't a great demand on these that I have ever seen. Just an opinion.

I have to agree with tiger41 about the lack of demand for these. The last saddle I heard about, and it was just the saddle without a cinch, stirrups, etc went for around $80.00 at a show. I think maybe part of the problem is the cost of shipping and finding the right buyer.

 

The saddle bags, spurs, buckets, blanket and other accessories seem to be less common and in higher demand than saddles but no clue about prices.

 

It would be really neat to see a complete Japanese cavalryman's getup.

A few of you might remember Kaz Shikata from Chicago . He collected Japanese and had a full cavalry EM in his basement. It was complete with the saddle....including a full size fiberglass horse which he had to cut in half to get it in. It was a GREAT display. The trouble was when Kaz passed, you need to get rid of it, what do you do? If you have the room and the money, its not a problem...but Saddles are a difficult sell.... Just something to think about.

Based on the value of the parts I'm guessing tiger41 is in the right ballpark... The other consideration is; how much do you want it?
