I have had these in the display case for years. Any observations on these items would be appreciated. Can anyone decipher the dog tag?

the soldier's name was "Otto Friedrich"

 

his address was: "Gemeindeweg 4" (street) in "GERA" (town)

 

Date of birth: January, 16th 1896

 

His last unit was Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 78. Before that he was a member of a Ersatzbataillon (Replacement Battalion).

 

I found your soldier in the 78th Infantry Regiment's casual list. He was a member of 10th Company. MIA at Reims on April, 16th 1917. His rank was Musketier.

Thanks you. I wasn't expecting to identify him, its sobering. I am supposing that him being listed as Vermisst means that he was never found.

He may have been recovered later and interred at Noyers-Pont-Maugis, as there is a Musketier Otto Friedrich buried at Block A Grave 4631.

Nice find and a great story to it. That's always a plus to purchase Militaria with the Soldiers name behind it.
