I found this M-34 at a thrift store today

This decal was removed some time ago.

The liner is their, but shows it's age.

The dome shows some impact damage.

It was a Lutheran thrift store to boot. I was stunned to find it. I also picked up a WW2 airborne wrist compass without the wrist band.

Your helmet is a Fire Department (Feuerwehr) helmet. The little leather tabs on the inside liner is for the attachment of a leather shield to keep water off the back of your neck when fire fighting.
