Troops of an unknown unit either getting ready to board or have gotten off a Piasecki H-21 Shawnee Helicopter in the early 60s. I wonder if they called the Chopper what the GIs called it, the Flying Banana, Die Fliegende Banane 

Yes they did! The depicted soldiers are equipped with the 1st type of Bw gas mask can (WH type covered with OD cloth) so I assume the photo must have been taken in the mid/late 1950´s. Nice one!

Sorry, I mean the BW title of the U.S. M113 Armored Personnel Carrier, the German nomenclature.

Recruits I believe in the 70s undergoing basic. Some of them seem to be wearing Camouflage gloves, is this correct?

You are correct patches. The first 3 fingers gloves for wear with the combat uniform were made of splinter camo cloth and leather inside.

Generalmajor Graf Wolf von Baudissin, Graf Baudissin was in the Africa Corps in WWII, a Hauptman i.G .and wound up being captured by the Aussies, interesting point is he was sent to Camp in Australia, would of just thought they would send him to England right

Berliner Militärmusikfest 2011. We see the NATO Member States Bands all joining in with the BW's Bands for a rendition of Alte Kameraden. All excert the Highlanders the Pipes wouldn't sound right in this instance LOL, yes they just stand at attention while the other bands march through them.

Berlin Police in all likelihood.  That is the Berlin gate behind them.  Looks like he is carrying a P.38 pistol.    

 

 

Major Alexandra Schütz-Knospe when Musikmeisterin of Heeresmusikkorps Neubrandenburg in 2012 one of a couple or more outstanding female band leaders of recent years, I think she's retired, not sure, as she was from 2014 to 2024 the leader of Herresmusikkorps Koblenz as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Don't know where this is taken. But here we se one is wearing the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division patch for whatever reason.

This is a formation of troops of an Recon unit in the 1990s, they are all armed with  UZIs, that is West German called the MP2.

 

The German Bundeswehr (especially its tank crews) used the Uzi since 1959 under the designation MP2.[29][30] It replaced the MP1 (Beretta M1938/49) and Thompson M1 in service. The MP2 was fitted with the IDF-style wooden stock and the later MP2A1 was fitted with the metal folding stock. It can be recognized by its distinctive three-position "DES" selector switch: "D" for "Dauerfeuer" ("continuous-fire", or "automatic"), "E" for "Einzelfeuer" ("single-fire", or "semi-automatic"), and "S" for "Sicher" ("secure", or "safe"). It was replaced with the Heckler & Koch MP7 Personal Defense Weapon in 2007.[30] Most of the Uzis used in Germany consisted of receivers with Israeli markings and grips made by FN

The photo was taken before the transition of the "Panzeraufklaerungstruppe" to "Heeresaufklaerungstruppe". The branch kept the golden yellow color but the beret insignia changed. It has only two crossed lances now without the wheeled recce tank.

Were members of those Elite and we guess heavily indoctrinated NVA Garde Regiments invited or otherwise permitted to transfer into the Bundeswehr back then 1990?

 

To wit, those from the Felix Dzerzhinsky, Hugo Eberlein, Friedrich Engels Regiments.

Found a number of Dutch Hair Force  Soldiers from the period the BW had the hair, so rather then start a new topic in the Holland sub forum, will add them here as they kinda go hand in hand with their German Counterparts of the period.
