December 29, 20196 yr #2 It´s the cloth variant of the Bundeswehr 1st Airborne Division (1. Luftlandedivision) pocket hanger. What´s the size of the patch?
December 29, 20196 yr #3 Here´s a picture of the mentioned pocket hanger. It was worn by HQ/HQ Co. elements. The division´s brigades and battalions had different insignia. The divison was disbanded in 1994.
December 30, 20196 yr Author #4 Hi PK The dimensions are Width 5cm and length 7cm. Where would this has been placed ie Shoulder and the dates of 1957 to 1994 . I did come across this what would be the translation? Much appreciated Phill
December 30, 20196 yr #6 Phill, the translation of your picture´s caption is: StKp LLDiv (Stabskompanie Luftlandedivision) - HQCo. Airborne Division Bruchsal - (Name of the town the HQ/HQ Co. was garrisoned) Formed: January, 2nd 1957 Disbanded: September, 30th 1994 Until the early 1980´s there were no unit insignia worn on Army BDU. From the early 1980´s on soldiers were allowed to wear pocket hangers on their BDU. Until the introduction of the new Flecktarn camo the use of cloth SSI by Army units was very limited. SSI becam popular with the introduction of the new Camo BDU. In this case I´m unsure if the patch was made as SSI or for ie a pennant. It was probably made in the late 1980´s/early 1990´s.
