I understand the nazi version of the DRL badge was instituted in 1937, and awards ceased in 1944.

 

My question is, how can you tell if a DRL badge is tombak, or if it's bronze-plated zinc?  Got any weights and measures, or other tips and tricks?

 

Below are a few images for reference...  The last two are a struck zinc badge whose bronze plating has gone.
