March 26, 20233 yr #82 A Customs Border Guard (Zollgrenzschutz) where he was gef we get no hits, Lotschnitzatal, according to the card description where it was found, Lotschnitzatal is given as being in Styria, but we get no hits for Lotschnitzatal.

July 20, 20233 yr #89 Unheard of so far, a WWII card where the unit is mentioned on it. A SS Man an Austrian from up around where Hitler is from, Braunau, he as you see is of the 18th Panzer Grenadier Division Horst Wessel, gef in Silesia. Curious on his Father, Söldner, Söldner means Mercenary.
July 8, 20242 yr #91 A priest, apparently can't get an assignment as a Chaplain in 1942, so he becomes a Medic. badly wounded in East Prussia 1945 and EVACed out and sent to Denmark, where he never really recovers, dies from wounds there well after the war ended in September 1945, guess the English just let him be and not make him a POW.
August 11, 20241 yr #92 FJ, gef Kreta Unknown if he is a German relative of Molly Ringwald, yes her Father is a German, her Mother Swedish, both Lutherans I suppose, since this Ringwald, is a Roman Catholic from Freiburg, Freiburg im Breisgau .
August 14, 20241 yr #93 Thanks to Patches for bumping this thread and allowing me to be aware of it. Otherwise, I had originally missed this one and now I am a 'Johnny-come-lately' as they say. Here is my only death card. It lists three bothers. I could only imagine the anguish the parents felt on losing all three sons (from my cursory non-German language research). The last son was killed in the final days of WWII... Sorry for the shadows. This is mounted and difficult to take out.
August 13, 2025Aug 13 #95 Karl Mahl's death card indicates he was killed {"fell victim to"} in an air raid on 27 February 1945 in Augsburg, Bavaria. It says he was a brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, godfather and bridegroom. Susanna Unterberger, born Susanna Buchner, died at the age of 72. She was a recipient of the Mother's Cross in Gold.
