1950s Australian Mk. IV Camo Helmet

This is a 1945 dated Mk4 helmet that has been camo painted at some point in its life. I'm not sure if the paint is original but it sure is neat looking. The letters on the front are also a mystery to me.

There are remnants of the letter "E" below AUS. Kinda hard to tell from the pictures but its easier to see in person. Did Australia use mk IV helmets?

Yes it would seem so in Korea, though probably starting in and around 1952 lets say, the start of the static trench war, earlier photos from 1950-51 really don't show helmets being worn by them, just slouch hats and or knit commando type hats

A June 1953 photo at The Hook with troops of C Coy 2 RAR.

And another 1953. 2 RAR dated photo, month unknown.

Unknown how long the use of these Mk.IV helmets along side the older WWII Marks were done for, like when they were phased out by the American M1 Helmets. Perhaps an Aussie member might know.
