Help with painted markings on German helmet

Got this helmet awhile back and didn’t think much Of it until I looked it over a little closer and noticed a painted K in the German style then I noticed 3 more of them 2 red one blue and one yellow. I immediately assumed the worst when I saw the letter K’s painted on there but the letters have age and worn off significantly. Also they seem to be in the German style letters.
