We are helping a person sort his Dad's military collection.

 

This was a piece that was a bit tough to ID but once we had it, some great photos were found.

Here's a variation that was included in photos taken at the surrender at the Elbe.  It looks like on this one the buttons have been replaced, which would not be surprising at the end of the war.

What a neat piece to have in ones collection. You don't see these come along everyday.
