East German Stahlhelm Used by Selous Scout

One of my favorite pieces in my collection. This is an East German helmet that I bought from South Africa and has been in my collection going on two decades.  The shipping from South Africa to the US was more than the price of the helmet.

This helmet came from the estate of a former Lieutenant in the Rhodesian Selous Scouts. It was captured from FRELIMO and was then used by the Lt. on cross border operations into Mozambique.

Helmet is painted a green color and has a manufacture date of 72 on the inside. The foam inserts are long gone, but the seller did send some foam in the package in case I wanted to add it.

I have another EG helmet (76 date) that was captured in Angola and is shown here for color comparison. The helmet in the left was captured in Angola and the one on the right is the helmet in this post.
