The FP "bug" bit me a few years back. In my younger days I'd see them at shows for cheap prices (for the times) but never bought any examples. Bought one of the later FP42 examples and the game was on. Here's one of the best pieces in the collection a cased armorers repair kit. There's enough parts to build two complete units. Very nice examples of flare pistols.  These can be addictive.

 

Here is an East German Volkspolizei flare pistol outfit.  Notice how the flare box is almost identical to the WWII model.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

 

 

Hardly any change to the flare container either. Like you said, if it ain't broke...

This example is the newest piece I have in the collection. I don't normally stray past WW2 items but this caught my eye. "New" in the sealed clear wrapper. Thought it pretty cool.

That armorer kit is the bee's knees IMHO.  I love accouterments.  

 

Here is the proper early holster for the police issue DDR flare pistol along with a box of red star shells.  There was a later holster too with a place for spare shells.

 

 

 

 

Keep that up and I'll have to start collecting post WW2 flare pistols!
