  This a captured SWAPO PLAN (People's Liberation Army of Namibia) canteen and cover.  Canteen is Yugoslavian in origin.  The cover appears to be hand made.

Another fine piece of aid from the eastern bloc, but you do need to carry water in the Namibian velt. The craftwork of these things is truely an art.

Thanks for the comment.  I've always wondered what type of leather this is.  Any idea?

Looks like it’s made from a leather jacket or from a leather chair one of the belt straps is from a boot I think.( the brown pebbled one) it is industrial treated leather not the type walking around the bush.

Like your canteen but no cup and in English. Also mess tin carrier. 1976 dated.Got this from a friend in J-Burgh.  Rich A. in Pa.
