This is an unissued first style East German AKM bayonet in the original unopened plastic package.  Notice that the bayonet and scabbard are wrapped in brown Kraft paper and then sealed in an opaque plastic bag with a card that identifies the contents.  The bayonet next to the packaged minty bayonet is to illustrate the contents of the bag.

I have seen any number of these NVA bayonets but never an original packed and still sealed one. Excellent piece, thanks for sharing.

I think this is an interesting way of packaging a complete bayonet with scabbard and hanger.  It certainly would make life easier for the quartermaster.  It would be ready to issue out.  Notice the bayonet itself has composite grips and a rubber sleeve on the scabbard so one can cut live wire with it.  It is a wire cutter bayonet system and there is a serrated blade with a sharp curved false edge.  Not a bad design.
