August 6, 20214 yr #1 Raf Senior Aircraftman tropical shirt / jacket. Unfortunately the date tag has been removed. Please help me with the era of use, and anything else that you can add.
August 6, 20214 yr #2 Can you read the service number? Might be able to try looking the name or number up!
August 6, 20214 yr #3 If there is an inked stamp pheon/broad arrow /|\ with a letter above it marked on the inside of the jacket, usually near to the label location then it may be possible to date the year of manufacture if it is pre 1960s. The last year number in this style that I have is letter X for 1959, after this the broad arrow stamps only seem to have inspection numbers.
August 7, 20214 yr Author #4 Here is what i can make out. 3519064 SAC HILLIER An S below the stitching of the missing tag. W and D with an O above them. There is what appears to be 911 under them.
August 8, 20214 yr #5 It does look like a broad arrow stamp matrix though the actual broad arrow is not visible, the WD is War Department, what is now the Ministry of Defence. The 911 is an inspection/inspectors number, I believe ( I cannot find a date related pattern to them). The O would be the year 1942 or 1955, (there appear to be multiple date letters for 1955: D, O, and T). For some reason after 1945 the letter codes are more random, whereas pre1945 they run alphabetically in reverse. 1942 is O, 1943 is N, 1944 is M, but then 1945 is L and Z, 1946 is L, 1947 is E and P. So 1942 or 1955 production date.
August 8, 20214 yr #6 The large stamped number, looks like a 5 or 6, to the left of the WD stamp is the size of the jacket, I think.
