I wanted to share some examples of French medals I have collected over the past 7 years.  Being a Democracy, I’m not sure how the French viewed their Empire then.  I’m sure there were a range of views, but I find it fascinating nonetheless.  I have read several books on the Legion in North Africa, and a novel called The Centurions I enjoyed very much.  If anyone can recommend any books along these lines, I would appreciate very much.
