I acquired this thinking the design looked Japanese. It's about 7/8 of an inch in diameter. Anyone have a clue?

Is it a sword pommel cap?

That is interesting if that would be the case. Did they make pommel caps that screwed on? I'd like to see a comparable constructed one if possible.

I suppose I'll search different websites looking at disassembled sword handles.
