I recently added a Gew-88 to my collection (to go with bayonets) and wanted to run the unit markings by the hive mind for confirmation.  It is marked on the band, “K.F.R.  8. 234”, which if I am correct, is for the Kaiser Franz Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 2, 8th company, rifle #234.    
it is missing the bolt head, but I don’t plan on shooting it with prices what I’ve seen for bolt heads.  Like most, the bolt and trigger guard don’t match the rest of the rifle. Nice thing is, no import marks or foreign markings.
