Very nice, does it have the economy measure bolt release notch?  I believe this is, in part, what the asterisk indicated (*). They were only made by Long Branch and Savage as far as I know. I used to have a Savage one a long time ago.

No numbers or markings on stock I hope it wasn’t sanded

I don't think there are any consistent markings externally on the woodwork of No4 Lee Enfields so it might be unsanded. The woodwork looks in keeping with the sort of wear one sees on Lee-Enfields; I don't think it has been sanded heavily if it all.  Has it been varnished?
