The Sardinian Crimea Medal (Military Valour for the Eastern Expedition 1855-1856) is a Valour medal that was awarded for bravery during the Crimean War. Established on 6 June 1856 by King Victor Emmanuel II, this medal was also awarded to 450 selected British Army and Navy servicemen (awarded shortly after the end of the war).  This is the seventh rarest gallantry decoration awarded for the Crimea.

DESCRIPTION

The obverse has the arms of Savoy within a wreath of palm or laurel encircled by the legend AL VALORE MILITARE. On the reverse is a laurel wreath and the inscription SPEDIZIONE D'ORIENTE 1855-1856. The medal of silver is suspended by blue watered silk ribbon through a broad loop with a flat top.

Spent a long time looking for a picture of one, and this is a rather faded example, but shows the medal without engraving)

If you have one of these medals to show, a picture of a soldier wearing it, or a story about this medal being awarded/earned . . . please feel free to share it here!
