Hello everyone. Thought I’d share this with you all. I picked this up yesterday. I know it’s not much but little things like this interest me. So from doing research I found that this piece was one of 20 glass tokens of famous German men. They were handed out by the National Socialist People's Welfare. I believe as gift for donated to the charity? Any additional about why this was handed out would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

It was the Winterhilfswerk program(winter relief).Most commonly called in the hobby as WHW.The drives were on a National,Gua and town city levels.There is a myriad of donation premiums from these drives.Glass,wood,leather,paper and so on.Heck,last fall I found a miniature harmonica labeled WHW Gau Berlin in a Vets estate,I never knew such existed.

Beware, if you start collecting WHW items, you are in for a long haul - next thing you know, the glass ones don’t do it anymore, so you’re making back-alley deals on the wax flower collection.
