I think the photo is showing a surrender.....anyone able to tell the rank of the French soldier?No writing on back...just the agfa watermark

    Interesting the Gertman soldier standing behind the general is wearing a WW1 transition helmet. You can just make out the heer decal. Additionally, with an EK1 sprange. GREAT photo!

    Perhaps the WW1 transition helmet is a clue.  This might be some form of prewar negotiation. It seems rather cordial, and other than sidearms, there are no signs of weapons.

    The General and transitional helmet guy have 1st Class Spangs?

     

    So it is sometime after 1939.
