March 2, 20224 yr Author #3 I would imagine that this building is still standing. Anyone recognize it? Here they are rummaging through a downed Soviet plane. Standing in a trench. According to the grave marker, were these guys in the 2nd Inf Div.?

March 9, 20224 yr Author #12 He looks warm. Interesting covers these guys have on their helmets. Very hard to make out exactly what it says. Looks like they are covering the stained glass of a church in the background. Their final resting place. Usually, in the German Army, banging on metal was the sign for a gas attack. Is he sounding the alarm or letting everyone know it’s dinner time ? Any idea what the sign says? Notice his wound badge.
March 9, 20224 yr #13 Thanks for posting more pictures! 1st part of the sign is hard to decipher but it´s most likely "Alarmglocke" (alarm bell).
