I'll say.

Do not know the details like if the pilot was killed or bailout etc. shot down we suppose. Ship might of been from No. 111 Squadron.

Neat photo.   My sources indicate that it was a Spitfire Mark V(c) from 145 Squadron RAF.   It was piloted by F/O Leonard Dexter.  It evidently crashed while forcelanding on an airstrip near Nettuno on January 30, 1944 and struck a building.  I don't know if F/O Dexter survived or not.

I'm familiar with the American Spitfire that crashed on the beach of SALERNO a few months earlier.  It was heavily photographed and has been identified.  I think there is an article about it in the magazine "After The Battle".
