NJ ammo pouch and captain shoulder boards

Featured Replies

Hi, found a couple of items out of the wood work this weekend. Appears to be an Indian wars .45-70 ammo cartridge pouch with ammo! Per the maker’s mark it was Watervilet Arsenal made. Either Port Schuyler, Gibonsville or West Troy. The arsenal was founded in 1813 to support the 1812 war. Pouch appears to be stamped Company 14, Regiment 1. I have no idea of it’s value and haven’t researched the Army history for the unit. Additional history or ballpark value appreciated.

Captain bars appear to be different types?

These are quite obviously pieces of US Militaria. You'll have better luck posting this over on the US Militaria Forum. https://www.usmilitariaforum.com

Allan is correct.  However we have some US collectors here that might give you an opinion.

You are correct in your assumption that this is a mis-matched pair of Captain bars.  Close to a matching pair but no cookie unfortunately.
