Another POW in Tunisia, wearing the Krim Schild auch.  this one wears the continental wool uniform as was common with those units rushed to Africa in November 1942, some would later get tropical stuff while others never did.

Clearly visible the Hauptfeldwebel ("Spiess") stripes on the cuffs of his uniform. Landser´s nickname of these stripes: "Kolbenringe" (piston rings). Second button from above is missing or still unbuttoned. Spiesse used to carry their service-book between the first and third button of the uniform.

A correction on the unit of these POWs, they will be as it turns out not from the 10th Panzer division , but from the 47th Grenadier Regiment detached from the 22nd Air Landing Division on Crete and sent to Tunisia, the 22nd Air Landing Division indeed fought in the Crimea in 41-42.

 

Grenadier-Regiment 47

 

Entstanden am 15. Oktober 1942 durch die Umbenennung des Infanterie-Regiments 47 und der 22. Infanterie- (LL) Division unterstellt. Im Oktober 1942 erfolgte die Überführung nach Afrika und die Unterstellung unter die Kampfgruppe Buhse. Am 26. Februar 1943 wurde das Regiment als Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 47 der 21. Panzer-Division unterstellt. Das Regiment wurde im Mai 1943 in Tunis vernichtet. Die Wiederaufstellung erfolgte im Februar 1944 auf Kreta durch das Feldersatz-Bataillon 22. Danach folgten Einsätze in Griechenland, Serbien, Montenegro und 1945 in Kroatien.
