May 7, 20224 yr #1 Good morning, This is my first post in this forum. I recently inherited some items from a friend of the family in Hungary. He had been a fighter pilot in the Hungarian air force during the 60s and 70s. His last flight was in 1981. The collection covers a complete pilot helmet, jump suit, several daggers, wings, a medal, pins and a watch. Perhaps someone can say something about the rarity of the items. Especially about the daggers, about one of them I haven't been able to find any info on the internet. One has an inscription, and was a present, possibly for his 50th birthday (1981). The watch (Certina) I know most about. It was used by the Hungarian Air Force and according to the serialnr dates from 1968. Thanks in advance for any replies. Alex

May 7, 20224 yr #4 I agree with Preppy Picker, I don't know anything about it either, but it is really neat Cold War items. Is the flight gear Soviet made? The Hungarian Air Force was certainly very small compared to the USSR, so much less common to find. Interesting items, thanks for posting them. BKW
May 8, 20224 yr Author #5 Thanks Brian, I expect the helmet to be made in the USSR. It's the same type that I found on the Internet (It says GSH 6A in cyrillic). The watch is Swiss. I don't know where the other items were made While cleaning his appartment in Budapest, we found some other items. A pair of binoculars (made in USSR) and a jubilee tile (I don't know the English word) as appreciation of his 30 year serving the country. That means that he started serving at least in 1951. As said, he retired in 1981, at age 50. The plate on the helmet was added at his retirement.
