Hi, I'm new to the forum obviously. I'm a collector of some Rhodesian militaria hence the username that I have used for at least 12 years on eBay and other places.

I've made various comments on some of the Rhodesian items that are displayed. Feel free to disagree if you think I'm wrong. Feel free to ask me anything.

I'm looking for any written (official or unofficial) information on Rhodesian awards, para wings, PJI brevets etc. Please don't refer me to Colin Owen's book or any others as I have all of them and they don't have the info that I'm seeking.

For those that might be interested I am writing a book on some Rhodesian militaria.

This will cover para wings, AD wings, PJI brevets. The breakdown of Rhodesian para wings and the explanation of Selous Scouts issued wings and the numbering. 

How the PJI printed brevets came into existence etc.
Selous Scouts, RLI insignia and RAR officer’s insignia.

Information also on Greens uniforms, some stable belts particularly both issues of the Selous Scouts, RhSAS and Grey’s Scouts stable belts.

Selous Scouts, RhSAS, Grey’s Scouts, RLI and RhAF PJI berets.

It will feature some things I have owned like Lieutenant-Colonel Ron Reid Daly CLM DMM MBE mess dress uniform and Major General A.B. Campling, DCD, SM camo coveralls.

I will cover medals and the stampings.

I have a very good ribbon collection of the Rhodesian awards and medals so that will be discussed. 

Information on what has been printed in some books on Rhodesian militaria that is incorrect.

Then I have to finish the chapter on the value (if any) of forums, FB groups etc.
Disinformation and misinformation including some from vets.
The best way to find items and sometimes it's a grind. It took me almost five years to get one item.

How to bid on eBay and other places. How to source items that might be in a group and you only want that one item.
I have at least 75 dealers, sellers and auction houses that have sold fakes or been deceitful that I will be writing about. Some of them are major dealers and at least one major auction house. All will be named and if I have their actual names they will also be published.

There will be significant information on fakes, the main sellers both now and from the past.

My files on Rhodesia are 42GB. That is 20,300 files.
My files on Selous Scouts officer's badges alone are 1GB.
My files on Rhodesian fakes is around 1GB.

It is the first book on Rhodesian militaria that will extensively cover the fakes and some of the sellers. It will also be the first book on this subject that will show and explain the reverse as well as the obverse of badges, patches, para wings and PJI brevets, the inside of berets etc.

 

A photo of the wing and brevet collection I put together in 10 years. The cloth Selous Scouts wings are just there for people to see the two types. They were never issued and I have never seen any evidence to show that the Selous Scouts were going to have a cloth wing. Missing is two Selous Scouts issued wings that I also had in the collection.

Some Rhodies served in the British SAS in WWII (1st wing).

Mothwing worn by the original C Squadron, 22 Special Air Service Regiment during the Malayan Emergency (2nd wing).

Officers and OR’s bullion wings worn by the SAS trained in late 1961 at New Sarum (3rd and 4th wings).

All of the above are UK wings.

The rest are Rhodesian.

The duplicates of the wings for the Greens and the camo uniform are because of the different coloured backs. The wings for the camo uniform are the same although there are three different outside shapes (wings and parachute are the same) and the bottom one is the largest.
