I picked up the photo today. Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Sorry for the lamp in the pic but it’s hard to photograph a framed pic like this

It's a good one if that's what you mean, you'll have to tell us if you can make out any numbers on his shoulder strapes.

Here is a trick I have learned,cover the lamp with white tissue paper like they use in garment packaging.The light is mot diminished and you don't have reflections on the glass.

Cockade looks Bavarian, tunic, 1914/15 transitional, looks like a 7 on strap, so seeing this guy looks old, perhaps he's in Königliche Bayerische . Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 7
