For (1) one, this is a mess kit, not a canteen, the pictures you have provided concerning the makers stamp are horrible, this isn't a race, take the TIME to properly photograph the item in question, have you done any research yourself?

The Japanese did have similar mess kits, the problem is that without better pics it's hard to discern wartime, post war or civilian use..
