I bought this badge as a part of the small collection of the White Guard Russian Cavalry officer insignias.  He apparently fought on the German side in WW2.  I spent quite a but of time online trying to identify this little badge that I suspect is one of the German units, perhaps anti-partisan ones engaged in the Balkans where a lot of former White officers were active during WW2.  The man was a cavalry officer (his Russian imperial cavalry school graduation badge is a part of the collection) but may or may not have been a part of the German cavalry unit.  Would greatly appreciate anybody's help!  Thank you

The back is Russian which means that the badge is Russian. Look at the back of the Order of the Patriotic War, Order of the Red Star just to give a couple examples. As to what it’s for I’m sorry but I can’t help you there. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will chime in.

 

As best I could determine this is a 1959 KKB Immigration Cossack badge.  I found the bottom photos of another one of these badges however I am prohibited from opening up the specific Russian website as my antivirus software blocks it.
